Virtual Endoscopy: Modeling the Navigation in 3D Brain Volumes

چکیده
Minimally invasive neuroendoscopy involves matching the two-dimensional images seen by the endoscopes to the three-dimensional reality of a patient that is summarized pre-operatively in CT and/or MRI data sets. To remedy the inaccuracies and difficulties associated with classical endoscopy, a robust real time computer-assisted navigation capability is required for neuroendoscopy. In this article, we propose a computational geometry-based approach for virtual endoscopy. The approach is also being implemented on hardware.

designing and implementing a 3D indoor navigation web application
During the recent years, the need arises for indoor navigation systems for guidance of a client in natural hazards and fire, due to the fact that human settlements have been complicating. This research paper aims to design and implement a visual indoor navigation web application. The designed system processes CityGML data model automatically and then, extracts semantic, topologic and geometric...

Background: Spatial learning and navigation is a fundamental cognitive ability consisting of multiple cognitive components. Despite intensive efforts conducted with the assistance of virtual reality technology and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) modality, the music effect on this cognition and the involved neuronal mechanisms remain elusive. Objectives: We aimed to investigate the...
متن کاملUser-friendly Environment for Virtual Endoscopy
Virtual endoscopy has recently arisen as a powerful diagnostic tool for examining the interior structures of bronchus, colon, and etc. In contrast to optical endoscopy that is invasive, virtual endoscopy is non-invasive and thus it is comfortable to patients. In addition, while the optical endoscopy enables observers to examine the hollow structures in the direction that the camera moves, the v...
متن کاملCylindrical Approximation of Tubular Organs for Virtual Endoscopy
Virtual endoscopy is a promising medical application of volume visualization techniques. A virtual endoscopy system requires high quality and perspective projection rendering, as well as real-time navigation. In this paper the generation of a cylindrical structure for tubular shaped organs (i.e. colon, aorta) is presented. This structure represents an approximation of the real organ. The cylind...
